How to find it

Four minutes from the JR Akihabara Electric Town exit, on the back street one block west of Chuo-dori. The Kitabayashi Building just southeast of AKIBA Cultures Zone, marked by the Pac-Man and Mario pixel-art panels high on the facade. The ground floor is the radio-parts shop Fuji Musen Denki; the shop entrance is the narrow doorway to its right under the yellow 'レトロゲーム スーパーポテト 入口' sign. Stairs or the elevator lead up from 3F.

Tips

• The 5F retro arcade starts at 100 yen a play; you can rest there without buying anything, and a dagashi (old-style candy) stall is on the same floor.
• 3F is the Nintendo and Sega floor, 4F is PlayStation and PC Engine plus guidebooks and soundtrack CDs, so pick the floor that matches the system you want.
• Besides the narrow stairs, an elevator runs between the floors.
• Tax-free and card acceptance are not stated on the official page, so bring cash to be safe.
