How to find it

The 'Rail Way BLD' on the back street two blocks west of Chuo-dori, just west of Akihabara UDX. The whole building is model trains; a train-shaped vending machine stands at the 1F entrance. Stairs and a lift to the other floors are down the passage on the right.

Tips

• The 2F rental layout is 800 yen for a 20-minute trial, or 60 minutes at 800 yen on weekdays and 1,200 yen at weekends and holidays; two-hour waits are common at weekends, and phone bookings are taken up to two weeks ahead.
• From 19:00 the layout switches to night-scene lighting.
• The 4F used floor sells single carriages, which the new-stock floors do not.
• The buyback counter moved from B1 to 1F, so it is easy to bring a big load by car; postal and home-visit buying are also offered.
• Credit cards and PayPay are accepted.
